Flovent inhaler or fluticasone is a corticosteroid. It prevents inflammation by blocking the release of the substance in the body that does so. Flovent inhalers are used to prevent asthma attacks. Flovent inhalers cannot prevent an asthma attack that has already begun. Sometimes the doctor also prescribes steroids medicines be taken orally along with the Flovent inhaler f95zone. A Flovent inhaler is prescribed to adults and children above the age of 4 years. Flovent is not a rescue medicine for asthma attacks as it cannot stop an already active attack. If you are allergic to milk proteins, you should not use the Flovent inhaler. It contains a medicine called fluticasone propionate which is a synthetic corticosteroid. These are naturally present in the body and helps to prevent inflammation. An asthma attack occurs due to inflammation of the air passage, restricting the process of breathing. The Flovent inhaler is used to treat asthma by reducing the inflammation of the air passage.

It is advised to take a Flovent inhaler as per the doctor’s advice. If used regularly, it helps to prevent an asthma attack before it starts. The Flovent inhaler does not relieve sudden breathing problems from asthma, neither can it stop an already started asthma attack. Important safety information:

  • If you have missed a dose by mistake, skip it and take the next dose at its regular time. Don’t take two dosages at the same time.
  • Your doctor will check your progress at regular intervals while you are on Flovent. He/she might also check your vision at regular intervals.
  • The Flovent inhaler also has some side effects like any other medicine. Some common side-effects are headache, diarrhea, persistent cough, throat or sinus irritation, upper respiratory tract infection, or difficulty in speaking.
  • More severe side-effects of Flovent inhaler are: fungal infection in your mouth or throat, weakened immune system, reduced adrenal functions, serious allergic reactions, slowed growth in children, eye problems, etc. Always visit your healthcare provider if you are facing any of these side-effects.
  • Store the medicine at room temperature, away from heat, light, and moisture.
  • Call your doctor, if your condition is not improving after 2 weeks of treatment or if your condition worsens.
  • Keep the inhaler away from the reach of children.
